Feeling stuck staring at the same four walls? Mix it up by trying a new study spot on campus. Whether you want somewhere quiet, social or close to snacks, thereβs a space for every vibe β including leafy outdoor spots perfect for soaking up the sun while you study. Check out the full list of study spaces on campus and find your next go-to.

Make sure you've got a USI πͺͺ
A unique student identifier (USI) is your individual education identifier issued by the Australian Government. You need one to study in Australia, access your results and graduate. You can apply for one on the Australian Government website, then add it to your Sydney Student. Find out more about USIs and what you need to do. |
Familiarise yourself with special consideration and extensions (and the difference between the two) βοΈ
A simple extension is an informal arrangement where you can receive an extension of five calendar days for non-examination tasks, such as written assignments or oral presentations.
If you can't complete an exam or need an extension for a longer period of time due to exceptional circumstances or essential commitments, you may be eligible to β―apply for special consideration. |

The Student Portal has a fresh new look, making it easier to stay on top of your studies this semester. Check out the new calendar integration, advanced timetable features, and quicker access to key tasks, support services and appointments.

Stock up at the Great Hall Book Fair π |
The much-loved Great Hall Book Fair returns this Saturday 12 September, bringing thousands of pre-loved books to one of the University's most iconic spaces. Whether you're searching for your next great read, building your collection or just enjoy a good browse, there's plenty to discover.
Free to attend and open daily from 10 amβ4 pm until Wednesday 16 September, the Book Fair is the perfect excuse to spend an afternoon exploring shelves packed with fiction, non-fiction, rare finds and hidden gems. |

Show your uni pride on USYD Hoodie Day π |
USYD Hoodie Day is back this Wednesday 9 September and it's the perfect excuse to break out your favourite Sydney hoodie. Head to the USYD Store pop-up on Eastern Avenue wearing a USYD hoodie and, if you're a USU member, you'll score a free limited-edition bag charm (while stocks last) and can snap a photo in the yearbook-style photo booth.

This R U OK? Day, take a moment to check in with yourself and the people around you. On Tuesday 8 and Thursday 10 September, you'll find events across campus designed to help you connect, take a break and support your wellbeing.
From the Law School Big Breakfast, staff vs student tag football and community BBQ, and Thera-Paws dog therapy, to gelato and sweet treats and SUPRA's Stress Less Pop-up, there's something for everyone. Whether it's grabbing a bite, patting a pup or simply taking a moment to connect with someone, every conversation counts.

Submit your nomination for student elections
Nominations will close at 12 pm (AEST) Monday 14 September 2026 for student elections to Senate, Academic Board, faculty boards, University school boards, faculties and University schools. MyGadigal postgraduate scholarship
We recently launched the MyGadigal undergraudate scholarship for eligible Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. Weβre pleased to announce that weβve expanded this initiative to include the MyGadigal Postgraduate Scholarship 2026. Eligible students can apply by Tuesday 15 September.

Build your resume and make an impact by joining the Student Appeals Panel
Want to gain governance experience while helping shape fair outcomes for students? Expressions of interest are now open for the Student Appeals Panel, a group of students and staff who review appeals relating to academic decisions and misconduct matters.
It's a valuable opportunity to strengthen your professional skills, broaden your understanding of University processes and contribute to an important part of student life. Applications are open to eligible continuing students and close Monday 12 October. |

Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, begins at sunset on Friday 11 September and marks the start of a period of reflection, renewal and hope for the year ahead. Traditionally, people gather with family and community, attend synagogue services and enjoy festive foods, including apples dipped in honey as a symbol of a sweet new year. Shanah tovah! Wishing all who celebrate a happy, healthy and meaningful year ahead. |

Your feedback helps us understand what's working well and where we can do better, both inside and out of the classroom. Take advantage of these opportunities to have your say: π Complete the Teacher Check-In survey by Friday 11 September to let your teachers know what's working well and where improvements can be made while your unit is still running.
π Tell us how you're going through the Uni Student Wellbeing Survey. Undergrad students can share their experiences of wellbeing, study and university life, and go into the draw to win 1 of 10 $300 gift cards.
