Welcome to your STUVAC edition of Student News!

Last week, many of you told us you like to study at home (a prime position close to the fridge and a great place to blast your favourite tunes) or at one of our libraries or Learning Hubs. We hope that this week, wherever you're studying, you have a productive and enjoyable STUVAC.

In today's edition, we’ve got support to help you stay on track, low‑pressure ways to recharge (including free food, unique study spaces and fun events), and a few updates to help you get through the week.

As always, make sure you take care of yourself – take breaks, stay hydrated, and reach out if you need support.

How Bachelor of Software Engineering student Fangchen built a community ⚽

When Fangchen Liu arrived in Australia to study, finding people to play football with wasn’t easy – so he started his own club. What began as a small group has grown into Social FC, a student‑led community bringing together players from across the University and beyond. Check out SBS's Beautiful Game Changers feature on how Social FC is bringing students together through football.

A student saves the show 🎶

Attending a concert turned into something a bit more for USYD student Sterling at a recent La La Land in Concert performance in Sydney. When a musician was suddenly unable to continue, the conductor called on the crowd – and Sterling stepped in, helping keep the show going and turning the night into something unforgettable. Be a good library citizen (and keep your belongings safe!)

Let’s face it – no one likes to study in a loud and messy space. This exam season, help keep our library spaces serene and clean by following simple steps like respecting silent zones and leaving the space clean for the next person.

🔒 Our libraries are safe spaces for you to study, but theft can occur anywhere so you should never leave your valuables unattended. If you witness suspicious behaviour, feel unsafe or are concerned for someone else's safety, contact Protective Services on 9351 3333 or via the SafeZone app. In an emergency, call Triple Zero (000).

🧾 How to report lost property or submit a police report is available on our website.
