Know where to access wellbeing support if you need it 🫶

Help is never far away. As a University student you have access to a range of health and wellbeing support, from our after-hours mental wellbeing support line (call 1300 474 065 or text 0488 884 429) to services and resources like TalkCampus and Sonder.

Get more out of your assessments 📖

Assessments aren’t just about grades, they’re a chance to build skills, test your understanding and track your progress throughout the semester. Taking a moment to understand what your upcoming tasks are designed to assess can help you stay focused and feel more confident.

Stay safe and connected with the SafeZone app📱

Students from our first cohort of the MySydney Scholars Program graduate

Stephen Bursic, Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Laws student, is one of the first MySydney scholars to graduate. Last week, he graduated with a degree in Commerce and will complete his Law studies next year. Reflecting on his journey to the University of Sydney, Stephen shares how the MySydney Scholarship gave him the opportunity to pursue his dream degree.

"Without MySydney, I wouldn't have been able to get into the degree I wanted. At the end of Year 11, I was diagnosed with advanced-stage Hodgkin lymphoma. During COVID, after everyone else went back to school, my immune system was compromised, so I had to stay away. I’d attend class online from hospital while doing chemo. I’ve always been a nerd, but it was hard to stay on track. Getting a scholarship offer with a reduced ATAR meant a lot to me.”

An update on the Canvas incident

The University has restored access to Canvas following a cyber incident that affected nearly 9000 institutions globally. There is no evidence of ongoing unauthorised access to the University’s Canvas environment or any loss of University data.

To ensure no one is negatively affected by the outage, automatic assessment extensions have been applied. New dates for impacted assessments will be updated in unit outlines by COB Wednesday 13 May. If you have any queries about this incident or your studies, please contact the Student Centre on 1800 SYD UNI (1800 793 864).

Stay alert to phishing scams

Incidents like this can increase the risk of phishing emails and scam messages. We encourage you to remain vigilant, report any suspicious activity, and review guidance on identifying and avoiding scams.

If you notice anything unusual in Canvas, contact the Student Centre on 1800 SYD UNI (1800 793 864). If you receive a message or email that seems suspicious, do not click any links, open attachments, or respond. Instead, forward the message to askcyber@sydney.edu.au.

We also remind you that Student Wellbeing services are available 24/7 if you need support.
