| Welcome to your Week 10 edition of Student News! |
Last week, we asked what type of community event you’d put on for students if you had $3000 to spend, and your responses did not disappoint. From puppy yoga and scavenger hunts to a campus petting zoo and a very creative take on a fraud awareness seminar (kebab included), your ideas were fun, thoughtful and very creative.
From your suggestions, this edition includes a guide to budgeting plus a bunch of upcoming events (dogs and painting included!). Plus, the usual events, announcements, and ways you can make Week 10 work for you. |

Be alert to external cheating companies trying to mislead students about Artificial Intelligence (AI) 🕵️♂️
The University is aware of contract cheating companies attempting to mislead students about generative artificial intelligence (AI), and what level of AI use is allowed for learning and assessments. Companies do this deliberately to confuse students and encourage them to access their costly cheating services. If you're unsure about the rules around AI, ask your unit coordinator. Never engage with contract cheating companies – read the University’s advice on how to tell the difference between tutoring and cheating services.

Keep informed post-election 🗳️ |
While we're past election day and it's now clear who will form government, the election's not over yet. Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) workers across the country will continue to: |
-
re-count and conduct a full distribution of preferences for all House of Representative ballot papers.
- scan, enter and verify millions of Senate preferences
- verify millions of postal votes and ballot papers cast away from Australia.
|
|
|
Once the count is complete, the AEC will make a legal declaration of results. This is expected to happen in the coming days. Stay up to date with the results, including who's won your electorate, with the AEC's Tally Room. |

Connecting with your peers on and offline
Last week, the University became aware that students were inadvertently granted access to Viva Engage – an enterprise social networking service. This platform was not intended for student use and not covered by our policies, and we've since removed student access. Connecting with your peers is a key aspect of university life, and we encourage you to continue conversations at club, society and student representative forums, events on campus, and on social media.
