Support for anyone affected by last week's incident at Cadigal Green

We’re disturbed and appalled by the vision that depicts verbal abuse and harassment on campus. Such conduct is utterly unacceptable, and we have taken immediate action under our codes of conduct.

We deeply apologise to any students, staff or visitors who are distressed or impacted by this incident in any way, and a range of wellbeing support has been offered to students and staff who were present.

Support is available for every member of our community who may need it through dedicated services, including Student Wellbeing, who offer 24/7 support.

To-do this week

Check your exam timetable

You can now log in to access your Semester 2 timetable. Check your timetable carefully to find when and where your exams are taking place. The exam period runs from 17–29 November so make sure you start preparing early.

Change your study scenery 📖

Stuck staring at the same four walls? Mix it up by trying a new study spot on campus. Whether you want somewhere quiet, social or close to snacks – there’s a space for every vibe. Check out the full list of study spaces on campus and find your next go-to spot.

Find your focus by refreshing your preparation skills 🙇‍♂️

Feeling the end-of-semester slump? You’re not alone. It’s the perfect time to refresh your study habits and regain momentum. Consider incorporating short, unstructured breaks into your study sessions. Even a five-minute pause can significantly restore attention and improve focus. For more strategies on effective study habits, check out our guide on productive study.

Show everyday integrity ⚖️

Ahead of the International Day of Action for Academic Integrity this Wednesday 15 October, be sure to complete your mandatory Academic Honesty Educational Module in Canvas if you haven’t in the last 5 years. Make sure you know (and follow!) all rules set for your assignments and exams, including those around AI; learn the signs to spot a potential contract cheating provider and never engage with them.

Let's do the right thing and keep our community strong.

Know what workplace exploitation looks like

Workplace exploitation can affect anybody, so it’s important to know what it looks like. It could be getting underpaid, working excessive hours or feeling trapped and unable to leave due to pressure, fear or control.

These situations can be signs of modern slavery, which is one of the most severe forms of workplace exploitation.

Support is available through our Safer Communities Office and Student Wellbeing team. You can send an anonymous tip-off to the Fair Work Ombudsman.

Speak up and win!

Your voice matters – we want to hear from you! Share your thoughts on how you are reporting modern slavery concerns. Complete the quick survey and go in the draw to win a $50 voucher!

Help us shape a safe and inclusive campus!

Help improve housing support for international students

Researchers at UTS are running a short survey on international students’ experiences in the private rental market.

🕒 It takes around 15 minutes and is available in Chinese and English.
🎁 You can enter a draw to win cash prizes – including $1,000, $500, and $100.📅 Closes late November. Responses are anonymous.

Take part via the survey page.

Chag Sameach ✡️

Shemini Atzeret and Simchat Torah are joyful Jewish holidays that mark the end of the Sukkot festival.

In 2025, Shemini Atzeret begins at sundown on Monday 13 October and ends at nightfall on Tuesday 14 October. It’s a time for reflection, community, and prayer – including the Yizkor memorial service.

Simchat Torah follows immediately after, from Tuesday evening 14 October to Wednesday 15 October, and is all about celebration! It marks the completion of the annual Torah reading cycle, with dancing, singing, and joyful processions in synagogues around the world.

Wishing a joyful Shemini Atzeret and Simchat Torah to all who celebrate!
