Have your say in the National Student Safety Survey

Dear students,

From Monday 31 August, students across Australia will be invited to participate in the 2026 National Student Safety Survey (NSSS), conducted by independent research organisation Roy Morgan on behalf of Universities Australia.

At the University of Sydney, we are committed to fostering a community where every student feels safe, respected and able to participate fully in university life. While many students have positive experiences, we know that sexual violence and harm continue to affect members of our community. Listening to students and acting on what we hear is essential to driving lasting change.

About the survey

The survey asks students to share their perceptions and experiences of safety, sexual violence and harm.
You do not need to have experienced sexual violence or harm to participate.
The survey is open on Monday 31 August and closes on Monday 28 September.
You will receive an email invitation with a unique survey link from Roy Morgan (safetysurvey@roymorgan.com). Look out for the email with the subject line ‘Share your Experience – National Student Safety Survey’.
Participation is voluntary.
You can stop the survey at any time and return where you left off.
Responses are confidential and individual responses will not be shared with the University.

Why you should participate

The survey is your opportunity to be heard. The experiences, insights and ideas shared through the survey help drive real change. Following previous surveys, including the 2021 NSSS survey, we’ve partnered with students, staff and victim-survivors to enhance education and prevention initiatives and strengthen support services, pathways and partnerships with community organisations.
