Dear students,
I am writing to update you on an issue affecting a small number of end-of-semester examinations.
The University is investigating potential academic misconduct in a small number of end-of-semester examinations. These matters are being treated as a priority and investigations are underway to identify those involved and to determine the full circumstances of each case. If you have any information relevant to this investigation, please email educational.integrity@sydney.edu.au. Anonymous reporting is available.
I want to assure you that we are taking all necessary steps to protect the integrity and fairness of our assessments, and the value of all degrees at the University of Sydney. At this stage, there is no evidence to suggest widespread impact across exams, and assessments have proceeded as expected. Where any impact is identified, we will ensure affected students are treated fairly and informed directly, and that your exam results reflect your hard work.
You should continue to attend your exams and continue with your plans for your well-earned winter break. If any exams are required to be re-taken, they will be scheduled from Monday 27 July. You will be contacted at your university email account ahead of time if any of your units of study have been affected and your exam has been rescheduled, to ensure you have time to prepare. Make sure you check your university email regularly for updates.
We are also aware of misinformation circulating online, including purported exam materials and fabricated content. You should rely only on official University communications and information provided by your unit of study coordinators.
We understand this situation may cause concern for you. Please check our website for information about the support services available if you need it.
Thank you for your continued hard work during the semester and the examination period.
Kind regards,
Adam
