Have your say in the Student Experience Survey (SES)

4 September 2025

Dear students,

We’re participating in the 2025 Student Experience Survey (SES), a survey of current higher education students across Australia conducted by the Social Research Centre on behalf of the Department of Education.

First-year undergraduate and postgraduate coursework students who have completed at least one unit of study and all final-year undergraduate and postgraduate coursework students will be invited to participate from next Tuesday 9 September. If you complete the survey, you’ll automatically go in the draw to win one of fifty limited-edition University of Sydney hoodies* and a $1000 prepaid e-gift card from the Social Research Centre every week**.

We’re listening to your feedback and taking action

We hear you, and we’re partnering with you to improve your experience inside and out of the classroom.

This year, in response to what you’ve told us, we’ve increased our employability skills development workshops to help you prepare for life after university, made improvements to our campus facilities and spaces so you can learn and study in a comfortable environment, and expanded the range of cheap $5 meals on campus to make refuelling ahead of class easier and more affordable. Visit our Student Experience Survey webpage to learn more about how we've used your feedback to help inform our ongoing work to improve your university experience.

Your feedback makes a difference, so I strongly encourage you to share your thoughts in the SES if you’re invited to take part.

About the survey

The SES is an annual study of current higher education students in Australia. It's administered by the Social Research Centre, and eligible students will receive an invitation to complete the survey from ses@srcentre.com.au.

The SES is your opportunity to tell us what it’s like being a University of Sydney student and actively contribute to shaping the future of higher education in Australia. The survey results will also help:

  • enhance teaching quality and learning experience
  • improve student support services
  • inform policy decisions.

The survey takes approximately 10-15 minutes to complete, and all responses are confidential and aggregated for reporting purposes. The SES will be open until Sunday 12 October.

For more information about the SES and how to participate, visit https://srcentre.com.au/project/student-experience-survey/.

Best,
