Nominations now open – student elections for University Governance bodies 2025

Dear students,

Nominations are now open for student positions on the following University governance bodies:

  • Academic Board (one-year term commencing January 2026)
  • Faculties/University Schools (one-year term commencing January 2026)
  • Faculty Boards/University School Boards (one-year term commencing January 2026).

These roles offer a unique opportunity to contribute to the strategic direction of the University, represent your peers, and develop valuable leadership experience.

To view the full list of available positions, key dates, and to download a nomination form, please visit the Student Elections webpage. Completed nomination forms must be submitted to secretariat.elections@sydney.edu.au by 12 pm (AEST) on Monday 25 August 2025.

An information session for prospective candidates will be held at 3 pm (AEST) on Wednesday 20 August 2025 via Zoom. To RSVP and receive the Zoom link, or for any further information, please contact secretariat.elections@sydney.edu.au.

Key dates:

  • Monday 11 August 2025 (9 am AEST): Nominations open
  • Wednesday 20 August 2025 (3 pm AEST): Candidate information session
  • Monday 25 August 2025 (12 pm AEST): Nominations close
  • Monday 15 September 2025 (9 am AEST): Commencement of ballot
  • Tuesday 7 October 2025 (4 pm AEDT): Close of ballot
  • Wednesday 8 October 2025: Declaration of results

We strongly encourage students from all backgrounds to consider nominating, especially those with lived experience of diversity. Your voice matters, and your contribution can help shape the future of the University.
